It has everything I wanted in a tube amp to sit between my DAC and a set of YU4 speakers in a desktop setup. The YU4 speakers are wired with RCA cables to line-out, which in case you are wondering, will act as a clean line level bypass. It will pass through whether the amp is on or off which was a must have for me. I do wish it had a cutoff for the line-out when headphones are plugged in, but it's a minor inconvenience. I'd describe this amp as a solid state and tube hybrid. It adds just a touch of tube warmth, but is not going to drastically alter the sound. Another must have for a desktop setup. While I love the added warmth, and that's why I have a tube amp, anything that dramatically altered the sound would be a negative for movies and gaming. I'm going to stick with the stock tubes, but I know from my research that you can roll tubes to get some interesting results with this amp. The sound... well my favorite thing to demonstrate for people is an acoustic guitar "sound check" and a pair of Audio Technica ESW990 headphones. The wood construction 990's complement the tube sound nicely. Ordering from Japan took forever, but the seller was good enough to cover the shipping. Worth the wait!
